Care & Cleaning

Keeping your PureSpark fresh takes a few minutes every couple of weeks.

How do I clean the PureSpark?
Use the built-in self-clean: go to System setting > Self-cleaning, press Drain to empty the tank, then Start to run the cycle, and refill. Run it when you first set the PureSpark up and after every filter change.

How often should I clean the water tank?
Flush the tank with hot purified water from the PureSpark itself about every 2 weeks, or with a food-grade citric acid solution about every 3 months, then rinse it well. Use hot water between 70°C and 98°C. The PureSpark's own hot water is ideal.

Is the water tank dishwasher safe?
No. Please wash the tank by hand.

How do I stop algae growing in the tank?
Algae needs light and water that stands still. Keep the PureSpark out of direct sunlight, change the water when the water-change reminder lights up (pour out what's left and refill, rather than topping up), and empty the tank if you won't use the dispenser for a while. If you do see algae, flush the tank with hot purified water from the dispenser, not tap water.

What does the UV setting do?
Switch the UV light on in System setting. It helps keep the purified water stored inside the machine fresh. It doesn't treat the 5L tank you fill, so keep that tank clean as above.

Can I avoid the tank altogether?
Yes. Plumbed into the mains, the PureSpark draws water straight from your supply and the fill tank isn't used.

When do I change the filter?
After about 4,000L per cartridge. How long that takes depends on how much your household pours. Then run a self-clean to flush the new filter.

How do I clean the outside?
Wipe the brushed-metal body with a soft, damp cloth and dry it. Don't rinse or spray it with water, and avoid abrasive or solvent cleaners. The drip tray lifts out for emptying and rinsing.
